You're invited to the 356 Registry East Coast Holiday 2009

West Baden Springs, Indiana has a long history of visitors, dating back to 1850. The area hotels were originally built for people to partake of the “miracle waters” from the sulfur springs that naturally surfaced in the area. The town name (and Resort name) comes from the famous mineral springs in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Wiesbaden, Germany is famous for its thermal springs and spa. Use of the thermal springs is first documented by the Romans. The spring bathing business became important for Wiesbaden near the end of the Middle Ages. In 1370, sixteen bath houses were in operation. By 1800, there were 2,239 inhabitants and twenty-three bath houses. Among visitors to the springs were Goethe, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Richard Wagner, and Johannes Brahms. In 1900, there were 86,100 inhabitants and 126,000 visitors. In those years there were more millionaires living in Wiesbaden than in any other city in Germany. Gambling always followed bathing ("Kur") en suite. Wiesbaden was famous in the 19th century for its casino ("Spielbank"), once rivalling those of Bad Homburg, Baden-Baden or Monaco.

Fire ravaged the West Baden Springs Resort hotel in 1901, and was rebuilt as one of the “Eight Wonders of the World” with the world's largest free-span dome. The hotel was a haven for celebrities, gamblers and political figures.

The Resort has undergone a complete restoration that was finished in 2007. Great detail was taken to restore the Resort to its original condition.

Our weekend begins with an opportunity for golfing, gambling, horseback riding, a trip to the Spa, or just simply shopping on Thursday morning. In the theme of the location, we will have a Poker Run through the scenic areas of South Central Indiana. A welcome party with Hors D' Oeurves will finish out the evening.
